November 2024
In 2023, product testing was once again done through the performance of athletes, starting with Courtney Dauwalter, who won the Western States 100, Hardrock 100 and UTMB® in Chamonix over 70 days, using Salomon S/LAB Genesis shoes. The S/LAB Genesis features a Matryx fabric upper, a reinforced toe box and extra protection on the side of the foot that allows running on rocky and technical terrain. Raised treads on the outsole ensure a secure grip thanks to a unique two-part cleat pattern that adapts to the terrain, while for long-distance comfort there is a Profeel film in the midsole that filters out rocky and sharp surfaces, and a small gaiter that keeps rocks and debris out of the shoe and on the trail. The S/LAB Genesis also features Salomon’s Energy Foam, a heel stripe for easy entry and the Salomon Quicklace system, which ensures consistent comfort over longer distances.
Another top model is the PULSAR 3, designed to go fast in short, intense trail races. Light, dynamic and cushioned, it offers optimum grip and precision at any speed, regardless of the technicality of the trail. The S/LAB Pulsar 3 is designed with Salomon’s lightest midsole compound and a lightweight upper that wraps around the foot like a second skin, with Matryx® mesh that hugs the foot for optimal precision and a secure fit. The Matryx® material also serves to increase the shoe’s durability on technical trails. Finally, an optimised rubber compound on the sole provides dynamic grip and traction.
Also new is the Alpinway model, designed to tackle steep walls and ridges and offering extreme grip, lightweight construction and precise, long-lasting comfort for long mountain hikes over technical terrain. The efforts of the Salomon Footwear team focused on developing a sole that would provide the best possible grip. The S/LAB Alpinway uses Salomon’s most grippy rubber compound, mixed with special ‘lugs’ to create strong static friction so you can climb safely. For comfort: in the midsole, a 2D PU frame for lateral support is placed between two EnergyCELL layers with differentiated densities.
The new line is designed for those who are constantly on the move between business, travel and personal life.
