That&#8217;s what&#8217;s happening in the laboratories of Vapesol, a Portuguese specialist in the production of soles that has decided to take the word &#8216;circularity&#8217; seriously.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text body\" doc-editable=\"text\" data-component-id=\"doc-1jbs950ah0\">As part of the FAIST Programme and in collaboration with the Centro Tecnol\u00f3gico do Cal\u00e7ado (CTCP), the company is developing three lines of innovation that have a common denominator: recovering industrial waste considered problematic and transforming it into high-performance soles.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\" data-tap-fullscreen=\"\" data-component-id=\"doc-1jbs91obi0\">\n<div doc-image=\"image\" doc-link=\"hyperlink\" style=\"background-image: url('https:\/\/arsutoriastudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/133485-133481.jpeg'); background-position: 50% 50%;\"><\/div><figcaption doc-editable=\"caption\"><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"text body\" doc-editable=\"text\" data-component-id=\"doc-1jbs901ce0\"><b>EVA FROM EVA.<\/b> The first project addresses a technical paradox: ethylene vinyl acetate is a cross-linked polymer that is traditionally very difficult to recycle, yet its production generates mountains of waste. Vapesol is developing specific grinding and reprocessing techniques to reintegrate these residues into new soles, while maintaining their comfort and performance properties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text body\" doc-editable=\"text\" data-component-id=\"doc-1jbs95goo0\"><b>LEATHER IN SOLES.<\/b> The most disruptive innovation concerns the development of TPU and EVA soles that incorporate tannery waste \u2013 yes, the very leather that would otherwise end up in landfill. The high inclusion rate achieved exceeds current industry standards, opening up new scenarios for the supply chain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text body\" doc-editable=\"text\" data-component-id=\"doc-1jbs95gor0\"><b>RECYCLED NITRILE.<\/b> Third front: rubber soles that incorporate nitrile residues from external production processes, such as disposable gloves.
